It is located in the Ancash Region, Huaraz Province, Olleros District, and in the Huari Province, Chavín de Huantar District. Uruashraju lies south of Huantsán, east of Cashán and Shacsha, and southeast of Lake Tararhua (Lake Verdecocha).
